Did you know that gluten intolerance and fructose malabsorption often coexist together? 🤔 It can be hard to tell them apart due to so many overlapping symptoms, but yhey are different conditions and therefore require different management strategies. GF + high FOD and low FOD but not GF ❎️✅️ Confused!? 😶‍🌫️ 👋Not all GF foods are necessarily low FODMAP. Fruit is naturally GF but many fruits are high in fructose like apples and stone fruit 🍎🍑 Nuts are naturally GF unless processed on shared equipment (always check packaging), but not all nuts are low FODMAP i.e. cashews and pistachios 🤰 👋Low FODMAP foods aren't necessarily GF. Take the sourdough bread 🍞 for example; fermentation lowers the fructan content of the bread, but the bread still contains gluten from the wheat 🌾 Oats in Australia always contain gluten but are low FODMAP at a standard serve 👌 #glutenfree #lowfodmap #fructosefriendly #fodmapfriendly #guthealth #healthyeating #foodintolerance #coeliac

No need to eliminate grains when following a gluten free diet! Many are in actual fact GF and very nutritious, containing protein, omega-3s, fibre, vitamins and minerals - all of which are important for nutritional balance in Coeliac Disease and other inflammatory gut disorders, where nutrient losses are likely. Here are some useful tips when buying food containing grains: 🌽✅️Look for corn, tapioca, sorghum, potato starches, amaranth, teff and rice-based products. 🌾❌️Avoid wheat, barley, rye, oat, triticale and products which state "may contain traces of gluten" - these may be gluten free by ingredient, but may have shared equipment with gluten-containing food during processing and manufacture. 🌱There is no safe amount of gluten consumption for Coeliacs - if in doubt, leave it out! #coeliacs #coeliacdisease #glutenfreelife #glutenfreeliving #wheatfree #autoimmune #sibo #inflammation
